Located in TriBeCa, Taylor Swift’s New York Apartment has become a well-known celebrity property thanks to the numerous parties hosted by the owner and subsequently posted on nstagram. Here’s a look at the multi-million dollar apartment:
Purchased by the pop star in 2014 for almost $20 million, the 7 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms apartment was previously owned by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. Situated at 155 Franklin Street, the top two floors of the apartment block were combined together to create one large duplex (at 8,300 square feet).
As well as a 29-by-43-foot reception room (including wet bar), the penthouse also features a library, playroom, cook’s kitchen and pantry, utility room and a dumbwaiter.
The apartment features a mature decor with exposed brick walls, wooden beams overhead and dusty-red paint on the sitting room and dining area walls. Rich wood panelling is seen throughout while the hallway features a sweeping carved stair and hardwood flooring. The kitchen acts as the most contemporary-looking room with white marble countertops and stainless steel appliances.
Despite a refurbishment in 2016 the apartment has remained much the same. A peek of the apartment was posted to Swift’s instagram in January 2019 showing the stairwell exactly the same as when it was purchased, right down to the crushed velvet sofa at the base of the stairs (now with cushions). While many celebrities take the safe-but-dull all-white approach Swift retained terracotta-shade of red painted on the walls of the main reception room, and even the dark wood panelling is still present.
Swift also purchased a second-floor apartment (3,540 square feet) in the same block at $9.75 million, along with the $18 million next door (153 Franklin Street), which comes with its own built-in garage for paparazzi-proof getaways.
