Scene of the Day: Red Brick Townhouses

There is something so sturdy and reliable about brick, but red brick goes a step further and adds a brightness and sense of style to what could otherwise have been a dark or bland build. These red brick townhouses are a perfect example of style meeting substance.

The uniformity of the windows and doors, painted in the same style and colours is an easy but timeless approach to curb appeal. Other features such as the stone flags, chimney stacks and the hook to an old swing sign, give hints to the history of the buildings, but the simple symmetry and flat facade is a style still attainable by builders today.

A personal touch has been added by the occupiers without taking away from its original intended appearance, including perfectly trimmed climbers around the door frame on the left with added faux columns for extra character. Floral planters have been added under ground-floor windows with larger, round planters to the pavement. The addition of ground-floor shutters also retains an old-fashioned appeal.
