Mary Berry’s House

Best known as a judge on the Great British Bake Off, Mary Berry has had a long career as a food writer and presenter, and is famed for her ‘cut glass accent’ and traditional ‘upper middle’ British character. It is, therefore, no surprise that Berry and her family have lived in large country houses over the decades, and after 29 years in Penn, Buckinghamshire they have decided to sell up. Here is a look at Mary Berry’s House:

With 80 cookbooks to her name Mary Berry has been able to more than afford the 6 bedroom country house ‘Watercroft’ that she and her husband have lived in for 29 years. Located just outside High Wycombe, the partially walled grounds of Watercroft have been routinely open to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme, and the stylish country-style kitchen has appeared on numerous television shows featuring Berry’s cooking recipes, but until now the rest of the house has been off-limits to the cameras.

The Grade II listed Queen Anne former-farmhouse features six bedrooms, five bathrooms, three reception rooms, outbuildings including potting shed, glass house, garages, store room, a detached two-bedroom cottage, former brewery house and coach house, 4.33 acres of gardens including a duck pond, kitchen garden and formal gardens with views overlooking meadows and far-reaching views of Windsor and Ascot in the distance.

The house also boasts a tennis court, wine cellars, and even a secondary ‘preparation kitchen’. The main kitchen, famed for its 4-oven AGA also features a ‘walk-in’ fridge.

The period property is marketed by Knight Frank and is available to own for £3,450,000, listed as follows:
‘Set in wonderful grounds with breathtaking far reaching views over open countryside. Watercroft is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest family houses situated in the charming village of Penn.’ View the listing at Right Move here.
